Finding Perfect

We are reading Finding Perfect by Elly Swartz.

The main character, Molly, suffers from OCD (Obsessive-compulsive disorder). Her world has to be completely perfect and ordered. She only likes even numbers. She arranges her pencils according to the colours of the rainbow. She washes her hands until they are raw to avoid germs. Molly's OCD and how she tries and cope with it, makes her a fascinating central character.

It is a fascinating book because Molly's OCD issues are seriously affecting her life. While none of us are suffering from this condition, we can empathise with how Molly is feeling. Sometimes, her actions because of her OCD are humorous. Sometimes they are sad.

Goodreads rates this book a 4 1/2 stars out of 5

Today, we were lucky enough to do a video conference with the author, Elly Swartz in Boston Massachusetts, and Glenbrook Elementry School in Chicago Illinois. It was 11.30am here on Friday, and 6.30pm on Thursday where they were.

Elly told us about how she wrote the book. It took her over ten years of writing to ever get her first book published She has not based her OCD character Molly on anyone she actually knows.

Thank you Elly, for taking the time to talk to us today. We appreciate it.
