Working Together

In Room 14, we sometimes work by ourselves, and we sometimes work together in groups. It is important that we learn to work well with other people, including people we don't normally choose to work with.

One of the Key Competencies in the NZ Curriculum is Relating To Others. The curriculum says that this competency "includes the ability to listen actively, recognise different points of view, negotiate, and share ideas."

These skills are also called 21st Century Skills. It will be even more important in the future to be able to work well together. Most jobs will require this skill.

Mr Waller uses a random group generator to put us in groups with any class member. We are sometimes with our best friends, and sometimes not.

  1. Kia ora Room 14,
My name is Tania and I am the Manaiakalani Outreach Facilitator who organises Tuhi Mai Tuhi Atu. It's great to have you join us this term. I look forward to following the learning on your blog as well as seeing the comments that are left for you from your blogging buddies. It is great to see you working together, a very important skill to learn. I like that Mr Waller is using a group generator, it's a good idea to try and work with different people all of the time. We can all learn so many things from each other. Keep up the great work sharing your learning.
